Owner and Stonemason Stephen Bundschuh was inspired at a young age by an architect grandfather. He instilled in him the importance of design in the building process. At a young age Stephen first worked with stone fixing old stone walls on his parents farm in Dutchess Co., NY. It was there he experimented with natural materials such as grapevines, birch trees and native shale stone. He chose stone as working media due to its many forms and creative possibilities.
Stephen apprenticed with English-style masons in Vermont building a stone pavilion for the VT. State Parks. Later in Connecticut he trained in traditional mortaring techniques needed to build stone homes and fireplaces. A minor in studio art in college paved the way for his design & build stonework business.
