Owner Stephen Bundschuh was inspired at a young age by an architect grandfather who instilled the importance of design in the building process. At a young age he first worked with stone fixing old stone walls on his parents farm in Dutchess Co., NY. It was there he experimented with natural materials such as grapevines, birch trees and native shale stone but chose stone as working media due to its many forms and creative possibilities.
Stephen apprenticed with English-style masons in Vermont building a stone pavilion for the Vt. State Parks. Later in Ct . he trained in traditional mortaring techniques needed to build stone homes and fireplaces. A minor in studio art paved the way for a design/build business.
